Share your story of a Great Canadian

Throughout the month, we will be featuring stories of Great Canadians on our blog and social media accounts. Join in by sharing a story of your favourite Great Canadian, and making a small donation in their honour. We will amplify your tribute across our online community of over 10,000 Canadians, so that we can all show our gratitude for what they have done for Canada.

There are so many heroes to acknowledge. Veterans, volunteers, serving military members, teachers, community leaders…the list goes on. Please join us in recognizing and thanking these Great Canadians.

Please consider making a donation in their honour

We believe the key to ongoing remembrance is in building meaningful links between Canadian youth and the immense contributions of our veterans and serving military. Our unique, youth focused remembrance ceremonies do this by making a personal connection between young Canadians and the individuals who serve and have served Canada.

This June, you can help us honour even more Canadian veterans by donating to support our youth remembrance programs.

Every dollar donated this month gives us another chance to win $20,000 to further expand our impact, honouring even more of these Great Canadians and connecting youth with their incredible service and sacrifice.

Laying the poppy on a fallen soldier’s headstone and having a moment of silence really made me put myself in the shoes of their family and even the shoes of that soldier. How they all set out to fight for my freedom not knowing what lay ahead for them really touched me. Then also thinking of their families and how I could only imagine the feeling of your own child leaving not knowing if they would return home or if you would ever see them again.

When I pulled up at the cemetery and noticed that every single gravestone had a poppy just as in previous years… it just made my heart so happy. No one was forgotten. I just had to reach out and thank you so sincerely for making this happen. Such a beautiful tribute. I cannot express my gratitude enough.

The aim of the No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation is near and dear to the hearts of the Regiment, and I do not believe that its contribution to the military can be overstated. In times of isolation, it provides a valuable bridge between the soldiers and veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and the people we serve, most notably the next generation of Canadians.
— Lieutenant-Colonel E.D. Angell, CD Commanding Officer, Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians)

No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation connects youth directly with the concepts of sacrifice and remembrance, and the individuals who make those sacrifices. They are engaged in a profound, hands on act of remembrance which allows them to show their gratitude and respect for those who have given so much. Through this experience, they gain an understanding of the sacrifices made, and their role in carrying the torch of remembrance foward.
